In 2023, my community faced the highest property assessments on Vancouver Island, with values increasing by over 100% in just three years. Homeowners were seeking answers and needed guidance through the BC Assessment appeals process. That’s when I stepped in, helping lead a mass appeal for those affected. As a result, we secured significant reductions for these homeowners, many of whom were seniors on fixed pensions.
Thanks to these efforts, in 2024, our community now has the lowest property assessments on Vancouver Island. A success that went beyond the numbers and made a real difference for homeowners. I personally assisted 40 homeowners, securing over $15 million in reductions and more than $75,000 in refunds. Rather than accepting monetary compensation, I requested donations to our local food bank, and together we raised $6,750. This community-first approach has been key to earning the trust of my neighbours year after year.

Our success drew widespread attention, with the story being covered more than 15 times and syndicated over 100 times across the province newspapers and media. What truly resonated with readers wasn’t just the numbers, but the story of everyday homeowners standing up to the BC Government and winning. Something that rarely happens.
As their guide, I led 40 homeowners through the complex BC Assessment appeals process, helping them achieve what many thought was impossible: significant reductions in their property assessments.
This David vs. Goliath story has inspired countless people, and I continue to receive calls and emails from homeowners encouraged by our efforts.
